Those of you who attended our 2012 General Membership meeting know that the union is pursuing a four-part plan of action for the 2012-13 school year. Our intent is to pursue every available option to preserve our ability to protect and advance the interests of the part-time faculty at MATC, the interests of the student body and the quality of education within the technical college system.
The 4 elements of plan include:
- Our Bargaining Strategy
- Our Legislative Strategy
- Our Organizing Strategy
- Our Litigation Strategy
As we execute each element, there will be cross-over between the different activities. We will work to keep you informed on our progress in each area. We are pursuing several different paths simultaneously to preserve as many different options as possible. For example, fighting to preserve bargaining rights for the union as a component of our litigation strategy does not preclude us from also advancing our InChorus model in the context of our legislative strategy. At the end of the day, we want to be able to assess the final alternatives and choose the best path.
